~Brittny Woss
I close my eyes; I hear wind chimes and immediately, I’m carried back in time.
All it takes, is a familiar sound and I’m traveling back in time.
It’s storming outside and we are on grandma’s front porch swing.
Summer rain is drenching our feet while the floor boards underneath us are drowning in shallow puddles.
We’re laughing because we haven’t got a care in the world.
Maybe after the storm has surceased we’ll go into the woods and swing on wild vines with our bare feet.
It doesn’t take much to go back in time.
All I need is to close my eyes and listen to the wind; a familiar sound will play within and carry me back safely to that place.
How could I be lonely with such dreams?
I always feel them dance within me.
It’s not so hard to remember.
Sometimes, all anyone needs is a little friendly reminder.
Memories are in the wind.
They’re in the tunes that music box spins.
They’re everywhere; they get me when I’m not all here.
But I don’t mind. No. I don’t mind.
It doesn’t take much to see our happy faces again.
Or to swing on wild vines with our bare feet.
All we need to do is to close our eyes and we’ll be there in a very short time.

I chose all of these pictures to represent the poem I wrote because they are all parts of my memories. What I wanted people to get out reading this poem and seeing these pictures is to always remember that remembering the “good times” doesn’t have to be so hard. Memories aren’t too far behind us. All we have to do is close our eyes and our memories will surely find us. 🙂
