She was sitting in a light room filled with people whom bore familiar faces.
They were laughing and so was she.
On the television set was  a film a playing; it was a film in which she had produced, not having any recollection of doing so.
The characters played their parts well and were elegant in character as well as charisma.

Suddenly, she was there, in her character form.
She looked almost the same but wasn’t.

She was different.

She was reading a book.
A little leather bound burgundy book and admiring the beauty of it’s structure.
When out of nowhere something shook.
The book fell from her hands and out came a man.

This man wasn’t the typical man in stories, not the typical hero, prince or villain.
He was stunning and not just in appearance.
Suddenly, the girl felt enamored with him.
she admired his majesty, though she couldn’t quite place why.

Then he told her his story.

He was from a kingdom that was unnamed; however, everyone in the kingdom had letters for names.
He spoke of how he was a prince, though not great in any way.
He was just man put in a large position, given rule over all of the others who were just like he.
He wasn’t like the typical prince or ruler.
He didn’t enjoy giving orders he didn’t feel justified to give.
He hated how they pinned over him, begged him for answers and just couldn’t go on without his guidance.
He loved the people but as his equals not minions to his rule.

The girl sat in awe of this prince, wishing to keep him near.
Something feeling was building immeasurably inside of her chest.
His voice was soothing like  her childhood music box.
His texture was soft and delicate but also strong and voiced.
She’s never felt anything so strange in her entire life.
She only knew him for an instant.
Her feelings were building and breaking through her normal barrier of ice hidden beneath sun.
She was endeavoring aimlessly to redirect her attention,
to stop gazing at him like a wanton pixie stealing milk from a baby,
to continue to listen to Prince X.

To her surprise, he noticed the passion for himself oozing from her mind.
He also was becoming swept up with her ability to listen and seemingly understanding.
She never once spoke or interrupted as the people did in his kingdom so many times before.

She just sat and stared at him, her eyes alive and focused but not obedient like what he had become accustomed to.
It was a different sort of feeling.
Could he have been transferring his affections to her because she listened but didn’t ask why or what should be done?
He wondered if she really was this enigmatic or just as obedient as the others.
He became speechless after a time of speaking and explaining himself and his palace.
He felt her passion and remorse almost simultaneously as she did.
He shot forward and pressed his lips to hers and couldn’t stop himself.

Even then she didn’t speak.
She just let him guide her into a gentle laying position.
Their hands intertwined and they continued to kiss, letting everything melt into one all around them.
There was no noise, no light, no dark, no one else but them.
For the first time, they both felt connected to something other than the artificial lives they led.

They were their own.
They were one in the same.
They were each other.

They continued to kiss and remained in their embrace.
They were so engulfed in each other that they didn’t hear the crashing around them.
It seemed out of nowhere when two lithe arms were pulling Prince X harshly away from her.
It was then that she spoke for the first time since their encounter.
“No! Please no! I love him! He doesn’t want to go back! You can help yourselves! PLease!”
she didn’t realized how she knew they were his people, she just knew.
She cried and chased after them. He called her name and she called his.
They didn’t speak as they took him away into the golden light of the book.
She ran and ran but time was slowed just for her and she couldn’t reach him in time.
She was heartbroken, not understanding why someone she loved was ripped free from her.
She lay crying and pondering ways to get him back when a loud sound came from somewhere in the room.

She awoke in bed, and cold realism swept down her legs like a chill.
She knew then everything that had occurred was all a dream.
A dream that left her second guessing herself and the very nature of society.
