My vacant, shiny black eyes glare down
from my sitting place you assigned me,
high, high above you and everyone else.
I was human once, like you,
a solid warm form, loved and surrounded by love and you.
The attention grew too much
and you became angry with your little doll.
I lived in a full array of colors,
too loudly and too radiant for you.
You had to take some of this for your own.
With your ceaseless hunger to satiate,
I bled too much, cried too much and
you grew weary with drying my tears,
with licking my wounds.
It didn’t matter if you inflicted them.
High, high above you, above the world you placed me.
Take me down and have a good look.
My china face now flawless,
exhibits no cracks.
My painted on smile, wavers not,
as in factory days.
Set me back down and smile to yourself.
Look up once more at your prize.
My black, shiny, vacant eyes are glaring you down to size.
You’re so low to the ground, you’re shrinking before me.
Now it’s your turn
to take your form….
