Remember thinking nothing of the ticking clock ?
It was just another sound, filling the space, like our laughter, like the bells between classes.
Whispers echoed behind our backs, we locked arms and got in faces laughing and enticing more words to come.
Remember thinking nothing at all during the summer ? Ideas of freedom and no sleep or sleeping until 3 were all that mattered. Walking for hours when the sun went down, swimming all day.
We reveled in the autumn and suffered the winter with music and candlelit bedroom hymns. It meant so much back then.
Maybe now if time wasn’t an issue it still would. We both changed with time but maybe not so much. There’s still something there in the back of our minds.
Do you remember when the ticking of the clock, time passing meant nothing ?
