Dance with me.
Move your elegant ancient arms and embrace me closely.
Dip me low and lift me high into your atmosphere.

Dance with me if you will.
It’s cold and we can see our breath.
Dance with me over ice caps and frozen over ponds.
Dance with me over snow mounds and bare tree branches.

Tip toe and tap on hollow, freezing earth and listen to our echoing tap, tap, tap.

Cracking ice won’t stop us.
Snow mounds piled to their fill won’t stop us.
The winter and it’s cold won’t stop us.
Dance with me like we’re magical beings.

Dance with me until we’ve left winter to become a memory.

My feet have been frozen for a long time, and my boots won’t keep the cold out. But I hope for a time when dancing will be a thing again.

Dancing can happen standing still, weighing your options against the cold and snow. The wetness sinking in, soaking your socks. You’re propelled to move, to bring heat into your sodden boots and brazen heart. Dance along, feeling the warmth fill you, a silly little epiphany enters your mind. You could’ve danced the whole time. You were already moving your feet.
