There are days.
There are days, myself, you can’t recognize.

It’s been like this since late March.
I don’t dare to speak it into the air, fearful it’ll come back, stinging the hearing air like a boomerang.

I’m left on the right and wrong side of life lately, aiming to make these scribbles legible.
I’m doing all I could and it can’t possibly change a thing.

I’m left with my right hand, laughing at myself while I’m crying, whining at my punishment.
My hand, my tool, left.

I’m left with this right wrong hand.
I’m lucky to be ambidextrous.

Still, I can’t let go.
This pen quivering in my wavering grip.
I’m left with this constant hiccup, smarting.
I’m stuck.
I’m left with only my right and wrong hand.

Neither of your hands could ever be the wrong hand to those who have been allowed the privilege of seeing your soul up close.

My son used to start writing with one hand and then swap to his other. It was quite amazing to watch. Like a dance. A teacher called it cross over syndrome and made him write with only one hand. Choose a hand she said and stick with it. Life isn’t like that though. I wished she hadn’t interfered and let him work it out himself – maybe I was wrong but I thought it great and unique and beautiful. We kill those things when we conform.

Right?! Aw poor kiddo . I’m sure the teacher was trying to help like mine was but still. I know how it feels. My mom tore into the teacher for trying to make me use my right hand haha. I remember it clearly. I was thinking to myself oh man, all this over a hand. Now I’m ambidextrous but I have more control writing with my left hand and can write quicker. Thanks for commenting. I am glad you shared this. It’s definitely a tough start for left handers.
