*short disclaimer- This piece as well as the next two to come, To Be Dead and Alive are kind of meant to be a trilogy of poems. They, in no way reflect how I’m actually feeling. They were written for creative purposes to challenge myself. 🙂 I hope you enjoy this piece and the others to come.
I’m stuck on this road.
Was it fast or too slow?
I can’t find my car.
I can’t see you, anymore.
One hit.
One and done.
It was just this one time.
I heard that song.
On a long drive home,
I put the windows down.
I sang into the wind.
There were deer.
There were ghosts.
There was you, too.
The moon couldn’t be any less menacing, shining serenely behind a wave of towering pines.
I didn’t have the time to react.
One hit.
One and done.
Did you feel the biting metal?
Did you feel a thing?
I can’t see you.
I can’t find my car.
I’m stuck on this road and you’re nowhere to be found.
