my world goes still
I hear your heart in your words
and it plays into my blood.
I cry and I feel all that you’ve said.

On a drive,
running late,
Breaking down,
and fighting tears.
Here they come.
All the more.

I hear this song
And my aim is to sing along.
I stumble as my throat clogs and my voice crumbles.
Your heart is pouring through this stereo.
I can’t pretend I don’t feel it.

On a drive,
running late.
Breaking down,
losing this fight as your tears fall with mine.
I hear this song and I remember,
I’m alive.

If I could be a song like that and nothing else…

Instead,
I feel now like I am nothing…
with
everything else banging on the door.

I dunno how to shut that off.

I dunno how to find the song.

Just beautiful, I love how you turned it all around in those final lines… What a great way to wrap up the trilogy, not to mention this haunting image being a great closer to the triptych!
