This was my original take on this piece before collaborating with Woodsy. I love the changes John made and the collaboration we created. He turns simple words into art. I figured why not share my piece and see what you guys think. I will put the link to our collaboration piece here.
Sing another song, a lengthy ballad to chime in with the sound relating to breaking glass.
It’s the sound that beats with broken hearts, shattering together, a twisted symphony of longing..
Sing another song, one not too bluesy.
Good luck, my friend, you’re far too choosey.
Sing another song, a lengthy ballad to chime in with the sound that pierces air like breaking glass.
Heart breaks sound the same but never crack in all the same places.
I’ve heard it coming from every direction.
Your ballad, a sonnet, a story, a connection.
I wield with me a certain lack of certainty and still you can’t blame me for trying.
You can’t blame me for trying.
I know the words I write may sound the same but cracking, splinters of glass hearts beating reverberates.
It never seems to slow these days.
I hike high to the peaks of mountains to find the golden silence I’m promised but the ballad, the hearts, stall me.
Maybe they’re just trying to release me.
Maybe I’m listening with deaf ears afterall.
Who am I?
Who am I to answer to your call, your ballads, your sonnets, your beauty.
I can’t fix these broken hearts but I can hear them sing.
