Princess Victoria,
lovely princess of the bay
Try as you may
you remain
as subtle as a mountain
sitting in a flat plain
You’re light but driven
You’re strong but not fearless
Rocking back and forth
holding weight that is not your own
Your wheels churn
treading water with an awesome might
Graciously you accept the spilling water
Drinking it down until it becomes a part of you
Cherry red wheels power through
quaking waves from careless maiden ships
Seagulls and Franklin gulls caw overhead
They can’t intimidate you over your paddling prowess.
You’re unreachable
Placid and revived.
