Colors flame, dissing the aging greens
Crows caw, oblivious to the geese fleeing
Standing on the edge of a lake
I feel my heartbeat settle

Colors flame, teaming up with a cool wind
Clouds promise rain
The damp, earthy scent growing less faint

My eyelids flutter shut

I’m somewhere I want to be

I still ache for somewhere I want to be…
for somewhere I can weave deep into all those frightened places orbiting my heart.

      Frightened places
      gracefully enter
      Transfixing my eyes
      Averting their hunger
      They shift their direction

      Dauntless I aim
      A revolver in my heart
Saving the last of this chase

I weave a web to retreat
      Strong enough
      it calls

I ache to set these starving souls free

      Somewhere I want to be
is somewhere that won’t change a thing
