Held them up
all of those heavy hearted stones
I’ve held their lives as they were wrought in tangles
They were as tangible to me
as a knotty head of hair
I’ve dealt with them all
Endeavoring with a might
unbeknownst to me
I’ve tried to hold them up
Tried not to drop that deck of cards
I hit a wall
lie face up
and teary eyed, watched them all fall
The wires only became tighter
No longer supporting the weight of
each card, each heavy heart
so opposite from the last
I’m Earth bound now
I’m on steady ground
leaving the birds and the clouds
