Eyes bright and brilliant,
hair wind whipped and
spiraling, curling and precious.
You’re angelic
in your smile,
your eyes,
your innocence.
I’m grateful to know you,
gracious being in your company.
You’re a Godsend
in a God less society.
Sweet child,
I love you.
Let me splash beside you,
dancing to your favorite tune,
dreaming in our own splash pad,
our own concrete escape.
The dreams don’t need to die,
Minnie Mouse can still exist,
with you, your tiny arms
wrapping around her stuffed figure.
She’s wearing a smile that’s your own.
She’s your friend when nights are cold.
We’re here, too
We’re stepping in rhythm with your feet,
splashing in manmade puddles,
laughing at my allergic situation.
For once, I’m grateful
for my red face, my sensitive skin.
Seeing you smile, watching
your puzzled expression transform,
watching the ice water dribble down my cheeks,
sloppily sloshing onto the ground before you.
Your luminous blue orbs brightened
as you dip your toes in my mess.
Little lips stretching effortlessly,
smiling with me, taking my hand.
I’m acting idiotically,
dancing in spilled ice water,
barefoot and brimming with joy.
There’s wisdom in your eyes.
There’s a love that can’t be unseen.
It really is the simple things that spark the brightest flames in our minds.

Thank you so much ! I had a lot of inspiration. I was with my best friend and my fiance and our God child. She is the little one in this story and in the photo. I had a little allergic reaction to the sunblock I had on. I used a cup of ice water to remove it. She was staring at me, bewildered. Then, she took my hands and started jumping and splashing in the water. It was the cutest thing.
