I could remain among,
the strong scent of pine,
the frosty wind
pinching the tips of our noses
We had places to be
No matter the weather
Lights are tugged from boxes
untangled and lit up.
Our precious beacons
shine ceremonious overhead.
They cast glorious orbs of color
across the drab wallpaper
Day dreamers pass by a chorus of carolers,
their cocoa sweetening the chill in the air.
Children rush by to see,
pressing against window glass delightfully
viewing the new toys.
Towns from up above
showcase snow painted roofs
and trains with their smoke
competing with that of the home chimneys.
It was just that time of year
for a certain Christ child
and a splendor serving saint.
Now the days are growing longer
and frost is tickling our toes
and kissing our noses.
The snow is piling
while our lights are still shining.
Can’t let the lights die,
no matter the number on the page.

Your photos are so gorgeous. I really enjoy your site . I could tell you put a lot of thought into what you post. I value that 🙂

Ah, all the joys of Christmas wrapped up in a poem. Somehow the short days and cold weather don’t seem that awful with all those bright colourful lights, holiday decorations and excitement for Christmas. I’ve put away all my decorations, but I still have my Christmas lights on outside.
