You had me fascinated,
integrated in an array of
the extraordinary within the ordinary.
Maple and Oaks
rose higher than the pines.
They kissed the bellies
of fat fluffy clouds,
while spouting their seeds
to Earth’s precious grounds.
Sharp, misshapen chestnuts mingled with acorns,
meandering around and over ancient roots
and concrete tombs.
Every blade of grass was vibrant,
surviving the telltale heat of summer,
the shrill cacophony of cicadas in chorus
and our bare feet.
The world was a playground,
our playground.
I learned about life back then.
I learned about truly LIVING.
You flooded my senses with tangible magic,
a touch of Heaven’s hope.
I was unafraid in the dark
and in the morning’s first sun spark.
We live this way to this day,
finding our picnic patch under an oak.

*They’re a sensory paradise for me. Typo ! Ugh 😣 I wish I could enjoy summer days more but they’re just so hot and muggy around here. I don’t get much enjoyment out of them, other than swimming and hiking when it’s not too hot. 🙂 I love summer nights though. They’re a whole other slice of heaven .
