Broken glass,
slippery when wet,
swimming with feathers and torn cotton.
Have you forgotten?
I haven’t.

Clock hands chase
the bratty twos and threes
around the mile stretching twenty four.

Can you handle
the weight on your neck
while you’re looking back?

Still, we dare.
We dream.

Cliche, perhaps.

Do you adopt the memories?
I can’t give them up.

We’ve been shaped.
Now, we’re shifting shapes.

Tummies tug at our skin under the
wind, tickling our belly buttons.
Or, we’re shrinking against the grain,
with our nine to fives,
meal prepping
and apple cider gummies.

There was broken glass
but honest glitter, too.
The sun promised the moon
promising the morning dew.

The weight is much lighter now.
I’m not as interesting.
That’s true.
But, I’m much more interested than I was before.

It doesn’t hurt to look back,
to remember.

It gleams brighter than
broken glass ever did.

I promise you that.

I really enjoyed reading this poem about how our experiences from our past, even if some of them were painful, helped shape us into the people we are today. And it’s good to remember that sometimes.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already March! Enjoy the rest of your week as well. Stay warm out there.

I know !!! February was gone in the blink of an eye!! It was relatively warm out today so Matt and I walked a bit and even walked to get our groceries for more exercise. It felt nice to have some warmer weather. The temperature is definitely dropping again though. On the way home from the store we got so cold! Hopefully we won’t get any crazy march snow storms. You stay warm too and break out your fuzzy socks. They’re a godsend
