Time shows himself,
staring back to me,
winking through my windshield,
conspiring with mother nature.
Casting rainfall upon
my foggy glass,
muddled vision lazily lolling from side to side.
I’m not in control.
Therein lies their greatest deception.
We never had it to begin with.
Time shadows his face.
He ducks within the dusky sewn leaves,
the amber crisp grass and purple sunset scenery.
Driving along,
it feels as if,
he and the highway are my only friends.
I can taste the dewey ghost of tears,
chasing more honesty I’m not ready for.
If I could take it all back,
would I?
Who AM I?
I’m still learning.
Time dates me.
Mother Nature changes me.
I’m continuously running.
There is a certain decadence in this odd
discovery.
Beauty finds me in the mirror
in another’s eyes.
If I am THAT person,
I have truly become all I’ve prayed to believe in.

Thank you, Linda !!! I have been wandering over to your blog a bit and I’m loving the photos !!!! You have a great eye π βΊοΈ I miss out chats awwws. This poem was written with many people in mind π. It’s difficult for me to feel one way at a time. I find myself often looking objectively at myself and situations from the outside looking in and from the inside . It’s tough to explain but it really helps me have a strong sense of empathy. I like to believe it more me better at helping others and healing my own stuff, too. It’s also hard to understand feelings, in general. I have a lot of people close to me dealing with some intense situations. I wrote this with all of them in mind. There’s always beauty in the chaos. Thank you for being so thoughtful in your comments. It means a lot -Brittny β£οΈ

You are too kind. I’m always so impressed how you’re able to channel your thoughts and emotions into your poetry. I can totally see that you have a strong sense of empathy and allow yourself to feel your feelings. It’s an admirable trait. There can be a lot of sadness and negativity when dealing with intense situations, but you’re right, there’s also beauty in the chaos and it helps to sometimes take a step back and focus on the bigger picture.
Enjoy the rest of your summer. It’s hard to believe that we’re almost at the end of August! I’m glad the weather is starting to cool down though.
