I wasn’t frozen scared
to let you in.
You loving me,
was what frightened me most of all
I fell so many times before
bumping my head
along the way down
Down
I never quite fit through any door
before.
Before
I
Met
You
Your laughter soon
became my favorite sound
a symphony of highs and flowing
effortlessly
A gift from God,
I couldn’t look away.
I saw my spirit in your eyes.
I couldn’t have belonged
like I do with you
I didn’t fully appreciate being human.
Until
I
Met
You
I couldn’t allow you
to gift yourself to me,
couldn’t relent to have
you see me.
But it came upon us
swift and took flight
and I wasn’t who
I was before.
My hand never fit
a hand like it fits yours.
My heart couldn’t feel
such comfort as it does now.
