And all I wanted,
was security, a simple smile, while I was
stuck in survival.

You are the soul,
I rise to meet.
I dash towards your light,
embracing the sun in your eyes,
that brazen crinkling at the corners.
Our tender, accidental touches.
A sigh goes unnoticed,
a reddening of freckled cheeks,
and a racing heartbeat.

You’re my connection to this place,

my own, warming flame.

You’ve shown me mercy,
like that of Christ,
at my most lonely.

You’ve opened my eyes;
then, brought me to higher states.

I will get to your place, one day.                                   Thank you for sharing your space.

Beautiful – and much needed for dreary days (of which there are a lot)

This poem reminds me of that feeling when you first realize you like someone. All those interactions and stolen glances, trying to make out hidden meanings. Nicely captured.

Thank you ! There’s so much I could say about this piece but a good told me to let it speak for itself, so I will. I’m so grateful you enjoyed it. I will say this, though. There are many different kinds of love I’ve experienced over the years. I’m happy I got to and get to experience such beautiful things and spend time with such inspiring people. They literally changed me and helped me grow just by being them and letting me in. Connection is just such a beautiful thing, whether it be, being in love or just loving someone. These are the moments I live for. Connecting with you is one of these incredible moments my friend !

Well said. And it’s very true. I was reading an article the other day about how staying social is so important for our health and that it helps slow down cognitive decline and dementia. Plus it enriches our lives 🙂
