Forgiveness is Bliss

Gave you a whole lot of the little I had,
opened my heart, only to feel a scorching
from your torched tongue.
There’s nothing I could do differently.
This is just who you are
Prettily wrapped in bows, on the outside,
but I saw the glimmer,
something SINISTER.

I ignored the signs.
There must be something deeper,
something surpassing vapid and shallow
It’s not all you to blame.
You’ve been a victim, too.
You don’t care,
even when you “do”.
Nevertheless, I forgive you.

I put my trust in you,
only for you to betray what we made,
a friendship based on honesty,
but I couldn’t see,
even when it wasn’t,
it was all about YOU.

My heart still warms at the good memories.
I pray you find peace,
in losing me
and not ever getting to know who you are.

This. And the older you get the more you need to learn how to ‘forgive’, even if it comes in fits and bits. Because it is so hard. Sometimes I think it’s more a process than an actual result. And I know few people who can put that into words – but you can!

Beautiful piece. Forgiveness is always tricky. But it’s a wonderful feeling when you can actually let go.

Love the wisdom in this. Forgiveness is crucial, but it doesn’t mean making yourself a perpetual punching bag.

  Yes, that’s exactly it!!!! You can forgive someone but also choose not to let them into your life. It’s a hard decision but sometimes necessary.
