How are you?
Are you feeling better?

Those are questions that vex me

They catch in my throat
like sobs
and sirens,

waiting to police the things I feel

How are you?
I am
I am not

What else do you want to hear ?

Do you ask to hear what you want not to hear?

Or to really hear me?

How are you?

Sigh

How am I?
Really?
I’m fighting day in and day out

Fighting to fight
to fight an unknown what if,
a problem I can’t speak of,
a problem I can’t identify,
spoken in whispers in my ears,
loud enough to hear
but not quite able to be made clear

Crazy or what?
Yes,
I’m fighting to fight…
Crazy?
What does crazy mean?
Am I stark mad,
slipping into a dark frame of mind,
or losing touch with reality,
all over, again.

to fight
an enigmatic ghost
a secret
that I tell anyone

Even
You

Love the collaboration. “How are you?” is such a weird question. We typically ask it at the start of a conversation and often expect and anticipate a light and generic response. If only we really felt that.
