A blast from the past,
“I’m back.”
I’m the familiar face you can’t believe
is standing in the wake of yesterday.

You haven’t changed
but you have.
I have changed
but I haven’t.

It’s a wondrous situation,
how a midlife crisis
can bring us in the same ballpark,
once again.

I’m back,
all is the same
but in a different sort of way,
weaving through the crowd,
bobbing and churning,
“Sorrys and oops,” being muttered
as we bump into one another.

All of us,
ducking past carts and elbows swinging,
slicing meat and cheese.
I forget some things
but remember most things.

It’s a wondrous situation,
belonging still,
in a place that I fought so hard to leave.

I’m grateful for the fight,
grateful that I’ve come full circle.
I’m working, again.
I’m with friends, a familiar face or two
Marked as the quirky, clever jokester,
I can accept this is where I belong for now.

A blast from the past
with a blessing to be able to
be ANYWHERE at all, kept above ground,
let alone, here.

I really enjoyed this piece. Funny how the world seems so small sometimes and when things come full circle. After all these years, we’re still the same and yet so different. But it’s nice to have that familiarity.

It really is, especially when there’s so much change happening . I’m so glad you enjoyed it 🤗🤗
