I’m awake with the sun.
my eyes are tired,
but every day I wake up,
I’ve won.

Invisible chains,
rattling and screaming,
settled, sitting in my lap
for far too long.
Regarded as unreal,
I’ve let myself believe
I could never heal

There were glass doors
and papers strewn on tables.
Lamenting souls,
faces torn from teary-eyed to dry,
a welcomed undoing
of a midlife crisis.

We were never alone.
Together, reconstructioning our psyche
in each other’s pain,
no longer nameless.

Sometimes falling can be graceful,
though it presents as failing.
We were never failures.

We’re lights in others’ lives,
burning through
the cocoons we’ve shoved into.

We’re awake with the sun.
Our eyes are tired.
But, every day we choose to wake up,
we’ve won.

I love this piece and the hope and perspective it brings. Showing up is half the battle. Beautiful pictures of you too, both with a tear and a smile.

Thank you. I wanted to make a point with this piece . It may be a little darker but ends with a twist of positivity. It takes time to get to a good place at times, especially when things are rough. But choosing you, choosing to wake up, is half the battle. It’s so important that people realize how valuable they are, even with strangers. Life can be hard and people need to know there are others out there who struggle with similar battles. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment. You always take the time to be thoughtful and reflective and it means a lot. 💜 I hope you’re having a great week Linda ❤️❤️😊

That’s one of the reasons I post what I post. I never want anyone to feel alone, just like you. I think we bring people solace. At least, I really hope so.
