I’m not a fairweather friend.
I’ve just seen brighter days.
Sometimes, the feeling is all too much
and I cannot contain it.
Good or bad,
right or wrong,
I continuously have to face it

Trying to navigate such overwhelming emotions,
vast or minimal,
I cannot escape them.

Space is such a vague word.
Needing space, even from occasions I love,
never made much sense.
It still doesn’t.

I’m trying and finding,
there’s no final answer.
There’s only navigating invisible lines
and crisscrossing through them.

I will change with time
but it doesn’t really turn me
in an opposite direction of you.
I’m near in your heart,
holding your hand, here.

Space is such a vague word.
Though, I don’t take it very likely.
We will change in time.
It doesn’t make much sense,
or does it ?

My need for space. and the ways in which it reveals itself, sometimes makes no sense to anyone. But if it did, I probably wouldn’t need the space so much.

Overwhelming and competing emotions are always tough to escape from. But space can help us process and try to make sense of things. Or not. But thinking things through is part of the process. PS Love the picture of the covered bridge. It’s very cute.

Thank you ! That bridge is a part of a place I hold dear. It’s this park about an hour from my house. I go there with Matt and my friend Alissia a lot. In the fall, trees envelope the small path, gracing us with plenty of colorful leaves and in the spring, flowers. Yes, space is important. It’s about finding the balance between space and keeping company. I am learning the balance and finding spending time with others is most calming depending on situation. It’s a question that I think more people question without even knowing they are.

Sounds lovely. It’s neat that you’ve been able to visit the park so often and see how the forest changes throughout the different seasons. I’m still trying to learn the balance as well. And you’re right, it really just depends on the situation and how I’m feeling. Sometimes I don’t even realize how stressed I am until I’m hanging out with friends or family and feel so much more relaxed afterwards because I was thinking about work. I do enjoy my quiet time too though, but it’s also good to have a break from my thoughts.

It really is nice to have that alone time and time with others. I’m going away soon to a lakehouse my friend and I saved up for. I’m hoping it’ll be a nice reset. Working in a deli is very busy and I spend a lot of time with many people in close proximity. Luckily for me,I like their company. It’s just a lot. I forgot how much work you do. It’s going well and I’m grateful to have been given a chance and given more hours than promised but I like my alone time to reset from it all. When you’re with so many people in a week, you lose touch with yourself a little bit and it can be overwhelming. I think I’m just someone who needs transition breaks and social breaks. I’m glad you understand because some people get really offended. My friends understand now that I’ve explained it to them a while back. The friend that I will be going with soon is someone who is calmer and quieter but carries on conversations so lightly. She’s very uplifting in a way I’m not used it and it means a lot to me. All my friends do but in different ways. I’m glad it’ll be us this time. She needs to get away, too. My other friends are going away soon to Virginia Beach and they’ll be gone for three or four days. Other than not having the money as the lakehouse will be expensive enough, but also that would be hard for me to be away from home for so long and such a different trip than I’m used to. I’m used to traveling short distances with my friends but that’s a lot and they have a lot planned . I think I chose the right vacation for me. It can be loud in my head so going somewhere quiet will be good for me. Sorry this response is soooo long Linda but I know you get it hahas

Enjoy your time away with your friend. Visiting a lake house sounds lovely and very peaceful. I’m the same way. While I enjoy being around others, I also really value my alone time and it gives me an opportunity to reflect and gather my thoughts. I like how you phrased it, β€œsocial breaks”. And hey, writing is a great way to process things. So no need to apologize for a long response! I’m glad you feel comfortable enough to explain how you’re feeling. I totally get it πŸ™‚

That’s great that you’ll be returning soon and will have the opportunity to spend time with more of your family. This time of the year is so nice to get away and spend time by a lake or surrounded by nature – the weather is more pleasant, there are no bugs, and the leaves are starting to change colour. It’s my favourite time of the year. Enjoy!
