Families gather,
aromas of turkey
of ham
and of pie
drift over your nose

Every year,
we gather,
grateful for those who remain.
There are some empty seats
but it’s ok.
It’s safe to remember them on this day.

Prayers are spoken
and plates are passed.
The conversations are light
as we try to make these moments last.

Thank you. It’s been hard for all of us, losing people over the years. This, for us is a great reminder to celebrate the ones who are gone and be grateful for those who are still here. We make our table, our time. It adds more joy during the holidays. I’m blessed to have them.

    Outside, dusk gathers.
    Inside, we linger—
    not ready for goodbyes,
    not eager for the quiet—
    just holding on
    to the warmth of now
    for a little longer.

      Beautiful comment !!!
      Lingering together,
      no need to rememeber.
      In the present,
      a magical sense of belonging,
      a magical sense of freedom,
      in each other.
      I’m no longer blind,
      or longing to press rewind.

Hope you had a happy Thanksgiving with your family. Loved the pictures with all the happy faces. The empty seats comment really resonated as we had a couple of those this year. It’s good to still raise our glasses and honour their memory ❤

Thank you so much. We did a great Thanksgiving. We shared a lot this year and took time to remember the ones we’ve lost but didn’t cry. We shared memories and joked and laughed and it felt really special. I love Thanksgiving for this reason. There’s no pressure. It’s just time well spent. 🙂
