And I’ll pace
when I’m afraid,
but the word afraid isn’t enough.
Afraid is such a small word,
doesn’t quite fit the level of fear
My mind spins.
My body responds in anger,
in fear,
or in fetal position repenting
I’ll pace with worse than terrified,
paranoia chasing me,
to keep me “safe” from no actual threat.
I’m confiding in the wrong songs.
I’m taking refuge in between the wrong walls,
living within this scary state of mind.
And I’ll pace until I’m running,
didn’t know I could run to you.
Loving soldier of mine,
even when the paranoia takes ahold,
you’re the one I still trust.
When my veil blinds me with colors
of red and black and blue,
I’ll pace and continue running,
trying to run towards you
When I pace,
I’ll trust what YOU say
as my mind spins,
terror shift shaping before our eyes.
In the end, you’re all I need,
when I’m so damn blind.
