Feathers flap,
tenderly curved feet
perch onto a branch and grab
Little flyers,
fearless and furtive;
you reconcile with the crows
and jays.
Jumping in, you take what you can.
You’re welcoming and full of charm.
Not even the bossiness of the jays
can taint your disposition.
Short, stout beak smiles with ease.
You’re appeased in my bushes, fences and trees.
Your gentle chirps mollify my soul,
beguiles my suspicions.
You’re all I need
to chase down this bittersweet morning feel.
Hearing you, I know I’m ready.

Awww you have a bird bath ?? I want to get one once Matt and I have our own place. I love sitting on my deck, though and watching and listening to the sparrows and gray catbirds, cardinals and jays. It’s so peaceful. Hearing birds reaches my soul unlike anything else. I love hearing birds and watching birds, too π . This is yet another thing we have in common, Linda ! π Thanks for stopping by . I love your comments so much. You’re so kind. Summer is a great time to watch the birds. I have been enjoying it π
