Daisies
wait out the storm,
making strides
in their unequivocal brazen beauty

I’m inspired by the daisies,
their high, strong stems,
petals raising to the sky.
I’m hanging by my bootstraps
but gaining momentum in my tying

I’ve lived through lightning.
I’ve shouted louder than thunder.
Negative thoughts never got me very far.
I’ll close my eyes, speaking well intentions
while I’m hanging by my bootstraps
but grabbing a hold of my feet,
lifting myself into the driver’s seat
I’m on my way,
tasting that tail end
of that promising rare rainbow.
